Hi, my name is Trish Daley and I'm a sexual health educator.
I'm still not used to saying that yet. For a long time I didn't even know that could be a "real" job. Of course I knew being an educator was, I've been a certified educator for over 25 years now. I knew that health was some random nebulous part of education and that "sex ed" was, well, generally an after-thought. And if it WAS part of your education, it was usually some really uncomfortable person telling you about all the "dangers" you "would" encounter, so hold out until you were "safely" married, as if that somehow magically was a protection cloak for everything they had told us was "definitely going to happen" if we had *GASP* sex.
The public system was certainly not an amazing step after working in private education. In fact, I only made it 2 months past my 2 year probationary period before I realized that the system was destroying me. I was miserable. So I left. I moved provinces and eventually made the decision to do something completely different.
After having spent about 7 years in the adult toy sales industry it was clear we were still failing at getting people, all people, the information they needed to maximize their health, their safety, and their pleasure. I saw first hand after my return to public teaching in NB that personal health and wellness was, at best getting lip service and at worst was being treated as unnecessary and the sexual health portion was still being portrayed as shameful, dangerous, and not to be discussed let alone experienced. People being made to feel as if having sexual feelings is weird, like it's a choice we have and not part of our biological make-up.
That just felt wrong to me.
Our health and wellness impacts our whole lives, both in duration and in scope. Shame causes us to avoid getting help. Shame causes us to slowly, insidiously lose who we are until there is no happiness left. No one should live like that. No one has to live like that.
That's where I come in. Daley D'Zires Edutainment is committed to helping people live their best lives, whatever that looks like for you.
How do we do it? Good question. And here is my very real answer: I'm still figuring that out. But it starts with my core belief that positive sexual health education is a right that EVERY body and mind deserves. It starts with my genuine desire to help everyone get the pleasure they want. It starts with you checking out my site and seeing if what I can do will help you live your Best Life Possible!
